The Mentawais have given a lot to surfers; now it's time to give something back. Kate and Luke Gerson celebrate the beauty of these islands and highlight the continued need for aid following the recent earthquake.

God Went Surfing with The Devil is a film by Alex Klein, which documents the war-torn region of Gaza. At a time when tensions are high, this film investigates the attitudes and aspirations of a small pocket of people where surfing removes socio-political divisions and lets the ocean carry their aspirations for peace.

Tucked away at the top of a hill near Gwenver beach in Cornwall, Skewjacks was the definitive 1970s surf camp. Noosa round-up

surf-shack“We have just experienced the best Noosa Festival of Surfing ever!” That’s what Bob McTavish said as he watched Noosa’s first point peel perfectly for hundreds of metres during the Festival. It was as if Godly forces were at work, bringing in the swell of a lifetime to the points in time for the contest.

For Wegener Surfboards, the Festival was great fun and gave us lots of publicity. We caught up with hundreds of our best friends in our shack at surf city and revelled in the success of the finless surfing movement.

aaron-on-alaiaOne of the most amazing bonuses of making these boards is that I get to meet (sometimes virtually, over email) the most incredible people, each of them stoked on life and the rush they get from surfing.
