Cleaning the oceans one marina at a time

Some clever caring Australian chaps have come up with an automated marina rubbish bin that collects floating rubbish, debris and oil 24/7.

The Seabin is set to change the way we clean our oceans starting with one of the heaviest localised polluted areas - the boat marinas.

Located in the water, fixed to a floating dock and utilising a shore based water pump the Seabin creates a flow of water into the device bringing with it all floating rubbish and debris.

The rubbish is caught in a natural fibre catch bag and the water is then sucked out the bottom of the bin and up to the water pump where it is then pumped back into the marina.

Seabin is the brainchild of Andrew Turton and Pete Ceglinski.

Turton is a boat builder, sailor and surfer who conceived the Seabin concept after numerous sailing trips around the world and witnessing the amount of pollution that amasses in the marinas. Pete Ceglinski is an industrial designer and surfer who also works in the yachting industry.

The duo have based the project in Palma Mallorca, Spain at the design center ‘The Sea’, a factory space set up especially for creatives.
