First ever Spindle Flip 540 landed

You know what that is? We’re not sure either but it looks pretty damn serious. Check out Matt Meola’s latest surf flick Home to see the action. Six minutes of jaw-dropping aerials, punchy turns and some heaving progressive surfing all shot in a secret location in Maui.

So what exactly is a Spindle Flip 540? Well apparently the spindle comes from the corkscrew, rodeo-like half backflip (check out 2.40) and the 540 we all know and love from King Kelly’s early exploits in warm-up late last year. Either way, he landed it and it is now on tape for all to enjoy. Not bad we think!
