Frozen tips and toes

Surf photographer and Drift chum Nick Pumphrey loves those northern adventures and it’s not hard to see why. Here with athletes Aline Bock & Lena Stoffel and film makers Matt McHattie, Sebastian Schramm he heads to the magical Lofoten islands, Norway in search of Atlantic gold and empty line-ups.

Germans Bock, a slope style champion snowboard champ, and Stoffel, a skiing champ, share their love of snow and waves last spring by heading Way North in search of vertical descents and feisty seas. The girl’s adventures were diligently recorded by Mr Pumphrey and Kiwi Matt McHattie for your viewing pleasure.

Surfing and skiing/boarding in a single day are surely on every surfer’s bucket list and the girls, coming off the back of injuries, throw themselves at the challenges of subzero sets and frozen toes with an alacrity that’ll leave you feeling like a lightweight.  If at the credits you don’t want to head north too, well then there more adventure for the rest of us.
