Newquay store Watershed have teamed up with California manufacturer Rainbow Fins to supply a new range to work with three models of their surfboards.
Watershed started manufacturing surfboards in late 2012 when they saw a gap in the market for surfboards that looked as good as they surfed
Rainbow fins are one of the original fin manufacturers from California; they opened shop in 1968 in Santa Cruz. Being located in Santa Cruz allows them to R&D and test fins all year round.
Watershed started manufacturing surfboards in late 2012 when they saw a gap in the market for surfboards that looked as good as they surfed. With a market that was predominantly lead by white shortboards, they wanted to design surfboards that would cater for all surfers, using traditional methods and the best quality products but would stand out as a beautiful piece of design. Watershed surfboards have become one of the most sort after custom surfboards in the UK market, with a sense of heritage already firmly cemented in the brand.
With Watershed and Rainbow Fins’ combined passion for heritage surfing and high quality products, they came up with a collection of three fins to compliment three models of surfboards. Two of the fins are original Rainbow Fin co. Designs, the TK Flex, which is one of their most popular mid-length board fins, The Pivot, which is a very traditional longboard fin and The ‘W’ Flex, which is brand new and has been designed around the resurgence of the single fin. It can be used in a variety of the Watershed boards designs, but is best suited to the Shegg and Shamen.
“This is an amazing collaboration of two brands that are extremely passionate about designing and manufacturing products of the highest quality. Being a british based brand has not always been easy, but we are getting very well known on a global scale due to our continued commitment in producing unique products. It has been great working with rainbow fin co. They are absolutely amazing at what they do and like us they are a family run business” Watershed Owner Jake told Drift
